12 Bar Club |

Admission £6 Open 7pm until late Calm Of Zero were formed this year from the ashes of a previous incarnation as Echobelly whose frontwoman, Sonya Aurora Madan and guitarist, Glenn Johansson have continued to write songs together. After the maelstrom years of Britpop and their ensuing success as Echobelly, a series of experiences that rock'n'roll would call its own, including death, drugs, theft and high court injunctions. Glenn and Sonya came through the storm to a time of reflection, re-positioning and reality: Where to go from here when the desire to write songs is stronger than ever but the business has changed considerably? Back to what you once knew: Write those songs and perform them. Calm Of Zero will be performing brand new songs for the first time this September. Catch a glimpse and say you were there when it all began......... |

THE ANALOGUE CLUB Thursday, September 2, 7.30pm-11pm Free entrance Tube: Highbury and Islington Founded in October 2009 The Analogue Club has established it's reputation for putting on exceptionally good live acoustic music in a friendly, big-hearted atmosphere. We are have now moved on to The Library Bar and have a summer filled with the most interesting and talented acoustic acts we can get our hands on. September 2 line-up: Valkyrie of the Beestings / Gillian Glover / The Glue Ensemble I Could Make You So Happy / Simon Hardeman Valkyrie of The Beestings The Analogue Club makes way for the demonic crooner Valkyrie of The Beestings to do her sassy, sneering thing. From soulful lilts to a banshee howl, this woman was born to entertain you. Not sure if the stage is big enough for Valkyrie's awesome presence - but she'll be there with her musical playthings, purveying her own brand of maximalist pop music. http://www.myspace.com/beestingsmusic Gillian Glover Gillian has been performing with an accomplished collective of musicians in Beet Root since 2000. Her debut solo album, Red Handed, has been described as 'a poised yet strident collection that manages to stamp her authority on the singer-songwriter genre, while never becoming bogged down by the constraints of the form...Resonating throughout are Glover's powerful vocals; her voice serves as a most decorative centrepiece to her own self-compositions.'' - ROCKnREEL Her impressive vocals flit effortlessly across the genres of folk, deep blues, rock and funk, melded together with a distinctive sound and assured presence. We're honoured to have her at the analogue club. And, of course, her Dad's in Deep Purple. http://www.myspace.com/gillianglovermusic The Glue Ensemble They are delightful, they are engaging, they are charming and they are getting more and more lush, as Ben and Zee surround themselves with more and more luscious ladies with their violas, violins, cellos and whatnot. Dreamy to have them back. http://www.myspace.com/theglueensemble I Could Make You So Happy Dawn Lintern's stunning voice, unique but with hints of vocalists from Tracey Thorn to Siouxsie, her uncompromising and insistent songs and her stage presence combine in her acoustic incarnation. www.myspace.com/sohappymusic Simon Hardeman Indie-ish songs about the Devil, religion, and rain, bashed out on a black guitar by Simon, who also comperes the evening. |
