We're running this night in collaboration with fantastic music blog 'The Ruckus' and showcasing some of our favourite bands both old and new. We've got some delicate electro pop from Telegrams. They are undoubtedly one of the finest bands around, and it's no secret that we love them. Loads. If you haven't seen these guys play before, then now is most definitely the time to do it! A little bit of French pop from our latest discovery Cecille Grey. They describe themselves as Regina Spektor meets Laura Veirs at a Rooibos tea party hosted by Françoise Hardy. Captivating performances, beautifully mournful and filled with melodic anti-oxidants. Plus, Indie Folk from another recent find, Jonah Maddox who we can't wait to see in action, and dark and haunting acoustic tunes from our long time favourite, Matt Kebbell. |

Open mic is held from 7pm – 8.30pm, Showcase is held from 8.30-10pm, Two songs per performer. Hailing from New York State, Christi Andropolis is singer and fiddle player whose musical inspirations range from the Southern states of the US to the UK. From delta blues to Appalachian tunes, she combines influence of her American roots with a flair for Scottish and English fiddle. David Newey is a guitarist, songwriter and singer who currently tours with Christi, Tom McConville (BBC Folk Musician of the Year), and the band Rubus. He is one of the most in-demand acoustic guitar players in the business, with Froots calling his playing 'Brave and imaginative', and Rock 'n Reel praising his 'Subtle and intricate acoustic guitar'. Christi and David will be performing as a duo Support: You Are Wolf peddles experimental folk and originals through looped vocals, melodica, bass and whatever else she can lay her hands on. Elsewhere, as Kerry Andrew, she's a composer of experimental vocal music and choral music, as well a performer with adventurous a cappella trio, juice, punky jazz crew DOLLYman and folkjazz sextet Metamorphic. You Are Wolf explores mostly English folk songs and original material with gentle touches of electronica, weaves in spoken word and throws in an array of wild vocal techniques. |

Open Mic with Sedge & Jon |
|
| |
The Eastgate
|
| |
4, The Hornet, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 7JG |
|
Evening starts at 9.00 p.m. We've got a P.A, some microphones, and an amp, but musicians are encouraged to bring their own instruments and gear, bearing in mind the longer it takes to set up, the less time people have to play. We welcome duos, trios, ensembles etc, but regret that we really can't deal with full drum kits, due to space and time restrictions. As a rule of thumb, you get 15 minutes / 3 songs minimum per set, with the hope of getting the keener people up twice, but this can vary depending on how busy the evening is. Check out our website for videos. |

Doors 8:00-11:00pm, Tickets £6 advance http://www.wegottickets.com/event/84391 Drifter Promotions presents.... We are really chuffed to be welcoming to Brighton in August the rather wonderful folk/country duo Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou. This most unassuming young husband and wife song-writing partnership released their self-titled album in February 2010 on independent London label Loose Music. A stunning collection of twelve original songs produced by, and featuring Danny George Wilson (Grand Drive/Danny and The Champions Of The World) and Romeo Stodart (Magic Numbers). Singing in perfect harmony TM&HL write and perform with a rare fluency, and manage to capture a quiet yet powerful beauty in their music. The album stands as an authentic document, of its own place and time, and reveals one of the most original and eloquent song writing partnerships to emerge in recent years. Their commitment and love for one another imbues their music with a depth and passion rarely found and makes for a refreshing listen. ‘Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou’ sits alongside and continues the rich heritage of classic English folk albums. |
