Thu 05 Aug 2010 The Analogue Club acoustic club Original Acoustic
  Library Bar
  235 Upper St, Islington London N1 1RU (020 7704 6977)
The Analogue Club is the friendliest acoustic night in town, co-hosted by Simon Hardeman and Dawn Lintern, and featuring the best of London's acoustic scene along with special guests, on the first Thursday of every month. 7.30-11pm. Free entrance. Tube: Highbury and Islington FEATURING: kATTWYk (from Hamburg, only London gig) / The Blowpipes / Eddie's Brother / I Could Make You So Happy / Simon Hardeman kATTWYk A four-piece band from Hamburg who combine a sense of cabaret melodrama with a sound reminscent of Joy Division and early Depeche Mode. There are also echoes of Bowie and Eno's Berlin periods in their dramatic arrangements, melancholy guitars and keyboards. They are only playing two gigs in the UK - the other at the Standon Calling Festival, on the same bill as Buena Vista Social Club and British Sea Power. www.myspace.com/kattwyk The Blowpipes Founded in London in 1993, The Blowpipes are The Global Village Band. This improvising/composing trombone trio plays all styles of jazz, from traditional to contemporary, plus folk/world music, popular/film music, and a great variety of classical music, from medieval to new. Blowpipes often feature poetry, too. Founder member Paul Taylor says: "We are motivated by the idea that a versatile band, unreliant on amplification or power supply – apart from egg and chips and a pint – can bring a fascinating spectrum of music to all kinds of occasions." www.myspace.com/blowpipes Eddie's Brother Affectingly honest acoustic guitar and vocals, highly hummable, delivered with the minimum of pretension. Songs that have regret and bitterness, with just enough hope and forgiveness. Each one is a story of loss, (lost trust, lost youth) and of discovery both good and bad. www.myspace.com/eddiezbrother I Could Make You So Happy Dawn Lintern's stunning voice, unique but with hints of vocalists from Tracey Thorn to Siouxsie, her uncompromising and insistent songs and her stage presence combine in her acoustic incarnation. www.myspace.com/sohappymusic Simon Hardeman Indie-ish songs about love, religion, and rain, bashed out on a black guitar by Simon, who also comperes the evening. www.myspace.com/simonhardeman

Sat 07 Aug 2010 Alastair Artingstall Original Acoustic
  The Drawing Room, Chesham
  Francis Yard Chesham HP5 1DG
I am delighted to be returning to play this wonderful Art Gallery / Cafe. Originally owner Richard's home and art studio, it retains a cosy, welcoming, eccentric charm, where patrons and musicians alike are all treated as part of the extended family. A unique venture in the heart of Chesham and only a stones throw from the Tube station, though so secluded in one of the High Street alleys, you feel could be miles off the beaten track. The evening session starts at 8.00 and the ticket price includes a fabulous home cooked meal. There is also a free afternoon set from promising newcomers and a few 'taster' songs from the acts playing that night. As this is technically a "Private show", please contact Richard at the Drawing Room for tickets, which are £20 each, but do include the aforementioned meal. You can find more details, maps, directions and contact information at:- http://www.the-drawingroom.co.uk/contact_files/contact.htm The Drawingroom Francis Yard Chesham HP5 1DG Telephone or email for Tickets 01494 791691 - land line 07973 664 551 - mobile Email richard@the-drawingroom.co.uk Hope to see you there.
