For anyone who wants to play in brighton: "THE BATH ARMS IN" is a grat little place, and its right in the soutern part of the lanes. The guy who runs it, is a nice lad called Robin. He is very friendly & helpful. He plays with the sound, so the performer gets the best sound for what they are playing/ singing. Its oin every monday night ay 9:00pm. I Will be there this monday, and checking out another wednesday Called Beesmouth. be good all Christopher Christopher Copley - Sep 05
Packed great atmosphere, spot on engineering & acoustics, will be back. ian davis - aug05 ian davis - Aug 05
Tuesday evenings are always interesting and full of surprises. There’s a great mix of people — some performing for the first time alongside others who are really experienced. There’s a lovely baby grand piano and the sound is very professional. David and Charlotte are friendly and encouraging, and people there seem to listen appreciatively and are forgiving when you forget your words! Gill Fry - Jun 05
i played last night it went well. it was so busy up there. The trick is to get up there for around 6:30pm and sign up if you want to get on early. Perfect for 1st timer's. If you read this, well done Dan, you done a great job Christopher Copley - Jun 05
hi, just wondered how long one get's playing 2 songs at the open mic? your's Christopher Christopher Copley - May 05
Really lovely place to play (especially on a Tuesday when it's a no-smokng night!!). Always an appreciative, respectful audience and great sound. Catherine - May 05
what a great place to play. I came from "the bedroom" to hear. very welcomeing, good croud bar the accasional mobile interrupting the performences. As a smoker, i didnt have problem with the no smoking policy. I shall brave it again tomorrow. if you have not been, do it!!!!! Christopher Copley - May 05
Thanks very much for a great evening, sorry we had to scoot so soon, but we'll pop by again when we can for sure. A great venue for our first 'airing'. Catfish: your inspired set has cheered up my week no-end, ta very much! Jay (The Cedars) - Apr 05
Tuesday nights are great here, quite possibly the best in London, keep up the good work, mate. It's quiet at the start, fills up nicely for the featured artistes and then "slowly empties out" leaving a hard core crew of talented open mikers. The quality of the performances are excellent, in the main. I was wondering, Mr Sherwood, if it would be possible to post the list of people who played the previous night? Just for the record, like? Interrogative incline at the end of the sentence? Yessirreee, Bob? Bob? Where are ya? catfish - Apr 05
Proffesional with a great sound. Will be visiting the open mic soon with my banjo. blabbermouth - Jan 05
Tuesday nights are great! The open-mic section is less busy and more laid back than Wednesdays. Then you get to hear 5 talented acts do 4 songs. Very varied styles. And cool that it's non-smoking!I recommend it. Jeny - Jan 05
Played VAC for the first time last night, and just wanted to say how much unbelievable talent was on show. You're normally grateful if you see one half-decent act at an open mic, but there were at least six or seven truly gifted performers on last night. And a fantastic venue to play in - lovely, receptive atmosphere, friendly crowd etc. Tricky for us to make it "up north" for a month or so, but hope to bump into a few familiar faces around and about. Take care one and all Steve (played with Kate) www.eitheror.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk steve - Oct 04
Popped in to see what you guys were up to some time ago- really impressed. Very respectful audience. Plan to come up here again, if I ever get a Wednesday off- may even play.. [begins to sob quietly to himself whilst finger-picking a crude a minor chord] Josef - Oct 04
An absolute delight - a atmospheric, candlelit space and consistently good (and often excellent) musicians. Always very welcoming and diverse. The best in London... Richard Godwin - May 04
respect to the fella who played a lounge jazz version of like a virgin on the white grand piano, 7th April 2004. You heard it here first. N - Apr 04
I played for the first time at The Virtually Acoustic Club last night, 4/7/04. I'm on tour from the States and was looking to hook up with some local musicians, play a song or two and overall have a non-hotel-tv-watching evening on a night off... to my delight, everyone was very friendly, talented and a very hush, listening crowd. Thanks for a fun evening and please do check in if you remember me! :-) me@ChristeneLeDoux.com, www.ChristeneLeDoux.com See you soon... I love the UK! love, Christene Christene LeDoux - Apr 04
After the sabatical, word is spreading. Last night was wonderful and it's getting busy again. Get there early if possible, but get there. Silver Sam - Sep 03
How are you doing?Say hello to everybody. At the moment I'm living in Italy,in a small town near Pisa, but I'm planing to move to Los Angeles.Gotta leave you,I'm working, but not without giving you some BIG LOOOVE.Ciao Pablo(The Subterranean) - Jul 02
I love playing at this venue, and I love listening to all the other artists. The pace of the wednesday event is remarkable! It's impossible to have a conversation there. Funny, moving, at times surreal and always very friendly. Great! Can I have another GIG? Corneilius aka Lookwood - Jul 01
Moriarty’s is a good accessible venue with cheerful bar staff which is always a bonus. Upstairs at Virtually Acoustic on Wednesday and Thursday nights, Dave sits at his mixing desk with his sound engineer hat on, so don’t expect to have a compere for the evening. The room is great (if abit chilly at the moment) and Dave’s PA system helps fill the room nicely with music. The Open Mic night on Wednesday is a simple, no fuss and popular night that attracts both serious muso’s and those who want to perform somewhere else apart from their bedrooms. Dave calls up the next musicians just when they’re on so it’s up to you to check and keep track of where you are on the list so you can get your guitar tuned up. As it’s busy, it’s advisable to get there about 7:30pm or earlier to put your name down, after that you may not get a spot. The Gig night on Thursday is much the same as Wednesday night in terms of atmosphere, but of course the vibe depends on the artists playing and there have been some gooduns. But be warned - the more people you can bring along to watch you, the better gig spot you get. If you’re first up you may find yourself playing to a handful of people. So it’s a good idea to be sure how many friends/fans/stalkers are prepared to support you before agreeing on a time to play. Astrid Brook - Jan 00
